YOUR PROJECT. THEIR STORY.

A little more dinosaur,
one growth day at a time.

Three eligible commits detected in one local day earn one growth day. Extra commits never rush an evolution. Days do not need to be consecutive.

01 / YOUR PACE

Take the weekend.

No streaks to maintain. No feeding schedule. Your critter keeps every growth day, even when a project takes a long rest.

02 / YOUR MACHINE

A local little life.

Read-only Git checks. Local saved progress. No account, telemetry or network requests from the plugin.

03 / YOUR PROJECTS

A whole little family.

Assign different projects to different keys. Duplicate keys share the same companion, and each project keeps its own story.

FROM FOLDER TO FIRST EGG

Make room for
someone small.

You need Stream Deck on macOS or Windows and Git available to the Stream Deck application.

  1. Add Project Critter to a key.

After installing the plugin, choose an empty spot for your companion.

  2. Choose a local repository.

Use its working-tree root. Your existing Git history becomes the starting point.

  3. Name your T. rex.

The author defaults to the repository’s Git identity. Choose a theme and make it yours.

  4. Build something.

Three eligible commits detected today hatch your first egg. Push whenever you like; growth works locally.

A few small details.

What counts toward growth?

New normal or initial commits recorded in the watched worktree’s local HEAD reflog, matching your selected author email. Merges, amend, cherry-picks, rebases and imported history do not earn extra credits. A growth day completes at three eligible commits; partial days do not carry over.

What happens when Stream Deck is closed?

Your companion is saved locally. When the plugin runs again, eligible new commits are attributed to the day they are detected, with the same three-commit limit. Missing or unverifiable history starts a new baseline with a visible notice.

Can I use linked worktrees?

Yes. Worktrees sharing a Git common directory share one companion. The first adopted worktree is watched. You can change the observation folder explicitly; other worktrees are not automatically watched.

Does it measure productivity?

No. Growth is a playful representation of activity. Fixing a bug, deleting code and writing documentation all count equally. Git cannot tell us how valuable a change is.

What stays on my computer?

Repository paths, your selected author email, names, appearance, growth and Git observation identifiers. The plugin does not read source-file contents or send this information over the network.
