YOUR SERVER, AT A GLANCE

Small pets.
Useful signals.

Choose a Robot, Cyber Cat or Digital Slime for your server. Spot resource pressure, tap into the numbers, and keep your dashboard one hold away.

Set up your server pet

Powered by your Glances server. No telemetry.

SIMPLE AT A GLANCE

Know when your server needs you.

Your pet stays calm when monitored resources are healthy, perks up when activity rises, and looks worried when CPU, memory or a selected disk crosses your thresholds.

One key per server

Give each server its own name, connection, selectors and thresholds.

Two quick views

Tap to switch between your companion and live server metrics.

Jump to your dashboard

Hold the key to open the dashboard URL you chose.

MEET YOUR COMPANIONS

Three personalities. Same useful signals.

Robot with an ivory shell, amber Cyber Cat with a digital visor, and lavender Digital Slime with a glowing core

Robot

Your little technical companion. An ivory shell, copper ear caps and a mint-lit face, with a reassuring wave when readings are healthy.

Cyber Cat

A curious amber cat with a digital face panel and a glowing collar. Its ears, tail and expression keep resource pressure in view.

Digital Slime

A soft lavender creature with a luminous core. Relaxed, focused or tense: a different silhouette for the same clear health states.

Choose a character in each key's inspector. Switching companions keeps your readings, connection and thresholds. All three share the same metrics and gestures.

TEN EVERYDAY METRICS

Useful detail, when you want it.

Tap to view the metric carousel. Values update from Glances; anything your server cannot report stays clearly unavailable.

READ THE EXPRESSION

A mood with a meaning.

Healthy & busy

All three health readings are available. Your pet gets busy from 65% usage, unless a configured alert threshold is reached first.

Warning & critical

CPU, RAM or the selected filesystem has crossed your threshold. Defaults are 80% for warning and 95% for critical.

Partial & no data

Glances is reachable, but some health readings are missing. Your pet keeps the gap visible instead of assuming everything is fine.

Connection trouble

A clear message points to the API, authentication or timeout. It means the check failed, not that the server is powered off.

GET STARTED

Your server keeps running.
Your pet keeps watch.

  1. Prepare Glances. Enable its REST API on the server. Check that it is reachable from the computer running Stream Deck.
  2. Connect a key. Add Server Pet in Stream Deck, enter the Glances API v4 URL and optional HTTP Basic credentials, then select Test connection.
  3. Choose your signals. Enter exact disk, interface and device names, or leave selectors blank for the first available item. Add your dashboard URL.

Glances commonly serves its API at http://server:61209/api/4. Secure your Glances server and network; credentials are stored in the Stream Deck action settings and are not encrypted by this plugin.

GOOD TO KNOW

A few useful details.

What happens when I press the key?

A short press switches between the companion and metrics, starting with CPU. Metrics rotate at your refresh interval. Hold for 800 ms to open the configured dashboard in your browser. With no valid link, the key shows SET LINK.

Why does a metric show NO DATA?

The Glances plugin may be unavailable, the host may not support the metric, or an exact selector may not match. Server Pets never substitutes a different disk or interface for a name you entered. A blank selector uses the first item Glances returns.

Does every metric affect my pet’s mood?

No. Only CPU, RAM and selected filesystem usage determine health. Swap, network and disk throughput, one-minute load and uptime provide context. Rates use binary units such as KiB/s and MiB/s.

What happens if the connection drops?

The key clears the old readings, displays a persistent connection message and retries automatically. Hidden keys stop polling. A failed API check does not prove that the server itself is offline.

Where do my data and credentials go?

Monitoring requests go only to the Glances API you configure. There is no telemetry. Credentials are saved in Stream Deck action settings and are not encrypted by this plugin. HTTP Basic authentication needs HTTPS to protect credentials in transit. Holding a key opens your chosen dashboard through your browser.
